The LVR Niederrheinmuseum Wesel celebrates its opening on March 18th with a highly interesting exhibition. Citizens of Wesel slip into the roles of historical figures. There are also many exhibits that will be on display in the Hanseatic city for the first time.

“Wesel and the Lower Rhineland. Treasures that tell stories”, as the name suggests, is the link between Lower Rhine and Dutch history from the early Middle Ages to the Napoleonic era, which always has a connection to Wesel.

The exhibition then moves on to the historical part with the introduction to the early Middle Ages. Among other things, an early medieval writing room will be on display. The upper floor is about Wesel as a late Gothic trading center and the lower floor is dedicated to the orders in Wesel such as the Carthusians or the Dominicans.

The former "Körnermagazin" (grain depot) of the Wesel fortress citadel, which was built around 1830, serves as a museum building. While the basement still has the historical room layout with barrel vaults, new large-scale room units have been created on the ground floor and upper floor. On the north side of the building, visitors are greeted by a spacious glass foyer with a museum shop, cafeteria and lecture hall.

Very interesting museum on the history of the Prussians on the Lower Rhine.
