The North Curl Curl Rockpool was built on a natural, rugged and rocky headland, with waves splashing onto the rocks and spraying water in and out of the pool most heavily during high tide. There is also a "secret" kid's pool behind the main pool, which is on a shallow, protected rock shelf, much calmer than the main pool. Both pools are public, free and open 24/7, but swimming at night isn't recommended as it's not lit up at night.
