Here at Thorup Strand the fishing trawlers are still pulled ashore according to old tradition, a special experience - if you are lucky enough to be here at the right time. Thorup Strand is Denmark's largest coastal landing site with around 20 fishing boats. At the same time, the beach and the sea form the workplace for the local fishermen, here you can buy fresh fish every day, weather permitting.
Thorup Strand is the only commercially active coastal fish landing site that still exists in Denmark and is definitely worth a visit. The beach is sheltered from the wind by the dunes overgrown with beach grass.
