It is an impressive city gate with Azulejo panels depicting the conquest of the city of Faro by Christian crusaders. The "Arco do Repouso" is another medieval city gate leading to the Largo de São Francisco. Here is the "Igreja de São Francisco", the Franciscan church built in the 17th century on the remains of the "Convento de Santo António".

Close to the church of Igreja de São Francisco, with its beautiful gilded carvings and its tiles, there are two towers. The city gate Arco do Repouso (Gate of Tranquility) protected, which bears this name, since there, as is told, King D. Afonso III. rested during the conquest of Faro.
