The first run of the cable car took place on April 5, 1958, starting from the valley station in Albino, a hamlet of Bondo Petello, to the head station, in the locality of Poggio Ama, between Selvino and Aviatico. At the time it was a work of high engineering value, designed in 1954 by Vittorio Zignoli of the Turin Polytechnic.
It rested on four intermediate pylons, had a travel speed of 7 meters per second and was able to overcome a difference in height of 536 meters in just seven minutes. The gondola lift had a good capacity as it could carry 40 people, plus the bellboy. It was the first example, and remains the only one, of alternative transport by cable car in our province: not using roads, free from daily traffic those who use it, especially students, but also many commuters and tourists. Each year it transports tens of thousands of people. It was inaugurated on April 5, 1958, by the then mayor of Albino Luigi Goisis and by the president of the Albino Selvino cable car company (SFAS), Davide Cugini.

The system connects the towns of Selvino and Albino: there are also paths that in a few hours allow you to walk the same path, known above all is the Via Mercatorum

Expensive, but it is possible to leave from Albino avoiding around twenty hairpin bends by car and weekday traffic.
