After the occupation of Orzesze, on September 1, 1939, the Germans joined the so-called "Purges", consisting in catching various names: "dangerous to the Reich" or "leaders of Poles", living in Orzesze. Most often they were local social activists, teachers, or former Silesian insurgents of various ages (1939) - they were about 35-60 years old.
On September 4, 1939, they were led to a nearby forest called "Pasterniok" by the inhabitants.
After committing this crime, it was only after two weeks that officials in the service of the Nazi administration allowed the local population to bury the bodies of the murdered. All the murdered were buried in two common graves at the place of their "final rest", in the woods. The youngest was 16 years old, so he did not remember much from the past, and he certainly did not participate in it. The oldest was 75 years old.
Today it is a fairly quiet place surrounded by quite pleasant trees, about 70 years old in some places, but rather younger (but not much). And let it remain so .....
On September 3, 1950, the Monument-tomb "Na Pasternioku" was officially unveiled.
