Please check local regulations for: Vaaler Moor und Herrenmoor
Location: Vaale, Kreis Steinburg, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany
The Vaaler Moor is owned by the Waterways and Shipping Authority. Due to the planned deepening of the Elbe, this area had to be renatured in 1999 as a compensation area and preserved as a moor. In addition, old paths through the moor were dissolved.
The Vaaler Moor is located in the deepest part of Germany. Usable areas can only be kept dry by drainage ditches and pumping stations. At -3.54 meters, Germany's deepest land point is on the edge of the Vaal Moor.

Vaalermoor (Low German: Valermoor) is a municipality in the district of Steinburg in Schleswig-Holstein. Blauer Rag is in the municipal area.
The municipality of Vaalermoor lies on the edge of the natural area of the Hohenwestedter Geest in the lowlands of the Kudenseemoor. This landscape is strongly characterized by its proximity to groundwater and peat soils. The use of bailer mills to drain the grassland areas was a prerequisite for their agricultural use. Peat spades are a reminder of the former economic importance of peat extraction for the community.

The Valermoor dugout, found in Valermoor in the district of Steinburg in Schleswig-Holstein, exhibited in the German Maritime Museum in Bremerhaven, has an impressive length of 12.3 m, a width of 1.3 m and a depth of 0.57 m. The spread dugout is reinforced by eleven frames, which, like the elaboration of a keel at both ends of the ship's bottom, indicates a developed shipbuilding that immediately preceded the planken shipbuilding (according to Ole Crumlin-Pedersen 1935-2011). Eleven semi-circular incisions on both sides in the upper board edges were used to accommodate seats (not belts).
