Why Stauden?
The name comes from the old German “Stûda” (perennial, bush, shrub) and refers to the characteristic vegetation of the landscape: coppice and bushes. This was actually true until the end of the 16th century. From the 19th century onwards, spruce trees began to appear, which dominate the landscape of the Stauden to this day. In the past, there was no common center and the Stauden residents oriented themselves towards central locations outside the region. People felt like they were from Fischach, Mickhausen or Mittelneunfach - the problems of the other Stauden communities were hardly noticed. On the basis of an agricultural structural development plan, the communities joined together in 2000 to form the “Stauden Regional Development”. With the aim of promoting the Stauden as a diverse habitat. Since then, all villages have successfully contributed their landscape, historical and structural qualities to regional development. Places that lie in the Stauden are (selection): Döpshofen, Waldberg, Kreuzanger, Reinhartshausen, Straßberg, Markt Wald, Ettringen, Walkertshofen, Fischach, Gessertshausen, Ziemetshausen, Langenneufnach, Mickhausen, Scherstetten, Mittelneufnach, northwestern part of Türkheim.
