To reach this beach, you first cross an old village. The sun and salt have burned the history of this place into the clay of the houses. If you are in no hurry, you should look around here. Walk past fragrant orchards and make a detour to Fort Forte D. Paio Peres Correia. From here, a magnificent panorama opens up.

Only a narrow river separates you from the Praia de Cacela Velha. Either you pass a long beach or wade through a lagoon. Also a water taxi will bring you from the coastal town of Fabrica here. Far to the east of Ilha de Cabanas, Praia is waiting for you.

Enter a narrow promontory of fine sand. The Praia de Cacela Velha is never the same. The play of the sea and the wind constantly changes the shape of this beach. Listen to the wind that blows through the dune landscape and bathe in the clear blue water.

Explore the lagoons that form at low tide or seek shells that are washed up. Here you are absolutely undisturbed. Think of provisions as you make your way here. Because here there is nothing but fine sand and the waves of the sea.

Parque Natural da Ria Farmosa

You can walk for miles along the beach from Tavira to Fábricia. From there you can take a small boat to the town for €1.50. The beach is almost deserted for early June. Small and large shells line the path, in my opinion one of the most beautiful beaches in Europe.
