Wixhou (Wihou - Wixhout) is a locality which today is assimilated to the hamlet located between the villages of Richelle and Saint-Remy in the province of Liège. Wixhou means blessed wood (wi = blessed & hout = wood). It is part of the village of Argenteau, formerly a municipality in its own right, and today included in the municipality of Visé. On the edge of the Herve plateau, the hamlet is located on the heights of the Julienne valley, a magnificent green setting. The single street is bordered on one side by fields and orchards and on the other by the Julienne woods and an imposing chestnut grove. Several remarkable and classified trees are listed there. A little further on stands the Château d'Argenteau, a residence built in 1683 on the ruins of an old fortified castle from the 10th century. Beautiful formal gardens surround the chateau and its outbuildings.
