The Slieve Gullion is ideal for this.
Around the volcano, which died out 50 million years ago, there is a hiking trail that repeatedly opens up spectacular views of the surrounding landscape.
The hiking trail is located within the Ring of Gullion and leads over lonely country roads, over forest paths and also mountain paths.
There is a free car park near the village of Meigh, which is also the starting point for the circular route.
