The Klokkeven in Oostmalle abuts the municipal boundaries of Brecht and Rijkevorsel and connects to the De Volharding nature reserve. It used to be a swamp area, where legend has it that the people of Mallen came to hide the church bell when Maarten van Rossum's warband left a trail of terror through the region in 1542. Whoever puts his ear to the fen, could at times still hear the church bell toll.
