Norman Tower of Maiori

The Norman tower is the oldest tower on the Amalfi Coast, it was built between 1250 and 1300 with the aim of sighting the ships of the raiders.
The tower is depicted in a painting from 1777, in another from 1817, as well as in some works by modern and contemporary artists.
Luca Albino, an artist of the 1900s from Maior, depicted her in the work Landscape of the Coast seen from Maiori, currently preserved in the Palazzo Mezzacapo in Maiori and in the work entitled Torre Normanna di Maiori, preserved in the provincial art gallery of Salerno.
Among the historical curiosities of our location: "The Sicilian episode" of the film "Paisà by Roberto Rossellini" was shot within the walls of the Norman Tower. In the 1950s Ingrid Bergman and Roberto Rossellini were photographed at the Norman Tower.
