The Spiaggia del Cavallo Morto, also called Bellavaia, is located halfway between Capo d’Orso and Maiori. The name of this beach derives from a legend according to which, starting from the mid-nineteenth century, dead thoroughbreds were thrown here, but there is also another interpretation according to which a horse accidentally rushed there, when on the mule track there was a great coming and going of quadrupeds.
Due to its location, this horseshoe-shaped rocky beach can only be reached by sea aboard private boats departing from Maiori.translated by
