After Rhoon became a High Lord in 1297, the Lord of Rhoon also had to provide a prison. The tower and cellars of Rhoon Castle are used for this. The Court, where criminals were executed, was on the corner of the Dorpsdijk and the Rijsdijk (where the statue of Biggo now stands). Hendrick Cornelisz. Keyzer was the last to be beheaded here in 1720.
