One of the most important buildings in the city with a distinctive architectural style, a beautiful expression of neoclassical baroque. The Church of San Bartolomeo was the only structure to withstand the 1693 earthquake and remained largely intact, requiring little restoration work. Located in a quarry between two hills, the church and the surrounding nature form an incredibly impressive landscape.

Hiking

It is not true that only this building withstood the earthquake. In Scicli there are several older buildings e.g. a Norman tower in the middle of the city and many of the smaller churches also survived.
