Piazza di Spagna and Spanish Steps

The Spanish Steps is one of the busiest places in Rome. Its monumental staircase is a meeting place for Romans and tourists and has been the setting for countless films.

Piazza di Spagna is one of the most famous squares in Rome, Italy. It takes its name from the Palazzo di Spagna, the seat of the Spanish embassy to the Holy See.On the square there are several sights, such as:
*The Fontana della Barcaccia, a fountain in the shape of a sinking boat, created by Pietro and Gian Lorenzo Bernini.
*The Spanish Steps, a monumental staircase leading to the church of Trinità dei Monti on Pincio Hill.
*The Keats-Shelley House, a museum dedicated to the English Romantic poets John Keats and Percy Bysshe Shelley, who lived and died in Rome.
*The Column of the Immaculate Conception, a column with a statue of Mary, erected in 1856 in honor of the dogma of the Immaculate Conception.

You are not allowed to sit on the stairs, but you can stroll over them. There is usually a big crowd down there. Nevertheless, it is of course one of the things that you should have seen in Rome.
