The Holyhead breakwater at 2.7km long is the longest breakwater in the UK. It was built to provide a safer berth for more ships that sailed between Holyhead and Ireland. Work started in 1848 but it took 28 years to complete and was opened in 1873.
You can cycle or walk to the far end for great views and an interesting perspective but it's an out and back and shouldn't be attempted in high seas.

Road cycling

This is reachable on a road bike but not really advised. The approach is gravel and the breakwater itself is very exposed, with frequent strong winds and waves breaking over the sea wall. Can be sketchy in anything other than calm conditions.
