In the mid-19th century, the Württemberg & Baden Black Forest Association built a simple shelter with a fireplace on this site. It burned down in 1909 and in 1910 a huge lookout tower with accommodation was built. The Black Forest Association lookout tower, also called the Teufelsmühle, is made of red sandstone and was built with a height of 10 metres. In 1952 it was increased to 16.20 metres
