Fesen or Fäsiloch quarry.
Here is the 300 m long and up to 20 m high quarry face of the Fesen or Fäsiloch quarry with distinctive borehole pipes. Like the ones in Allmendsberg and on the Langauweg, this quarry was probably shut down in the 1920s. An explanatory plaque from the municipality of Freiamt refers to the earlier quarry work in its district.
What is a borehole pipe: this is the part of the borehole that remains after blasting. Explosives have been used in the quarries since the end of the 19th century.
