Along the cycle path that connects Bologna and Casalecchio, a stretch is panoramic and directly overlooks the Reno river. From here, it is possible to admire the lock.

Built in 1208, the Casalecchio di Reno lock is the oldest hydraulic structure in Europe still in operation. This is where the Reno river abandons its natural path and is channeled into the Reno Canal, 80 kilometers from its source in San Marcello Piteglio, in the province of Pistoia, and 128 kilometers from its mouth in the Adriatic Sea near Casal Borsetti, in municipality of Ravenna.
The imposing structure of the Casalecchio lock, over 160 meters long and approximately 35 meters wide, is historically the symbol of the driving energy that has allowed the city of Bologna and its plain province to grow and develop over the centuries, supplying the energy city and preserving the territory from floods and inundations.

Road inside the Talon Park, at the foot of the hill where San Luca is located. From here you can access numerous off-road routes, both towards the hill and towards the Reno river
