Short name of the sanctuary of the Santissimo Crocifisso in the Parish of Saints John the Baptist and Benedict of Tizzano, the Hermitage of Tizzano was built in the 17th century at the behest of the Camaldolese monks. The Hermitage, whose church is dedicated to San Benedetto, looks like a monastic complex consisting of several buildings. The beginning of its construction dates back to 1665 by the will of the Camaldolese Hermit monks of Monte Corona who decided to start a new community in the Bolognese area on the land of the Guastavillani family. The works were finished in 1741.
