The "Obere Schalker Graben", built in 1716, collected the mountain water from the southern slope of the Schalke to Hahnenklee on its 8,980 m long path and led it to the Hahnenkleer Gruben via several ponds.

From up here you have a great view of the landscape, of the valley and, in good weather, of the Brocken. The hiking trail is a bit special because there is a steep slope on one side and a moat on the other side. You should be careful here, especially with children. A trip up here is definitely worth it.
