The planetary trail by Dr. Günter Alfs and Hartmut Langetepe in Hude is now internationally known and has already been copied several times. The colleagues have set up a model of the solar system on a scale of 1:1 billion. The path begins in Hude at Pluto at the intersection of Lehmweg and Hurreler Straße and ends around six kilometers away at Sonne in the district of Wüsting. At the individual stations, bronze plates provide information about the planets. What is special about this planetary trail, however, is that the "sun" can be seen all the way from Saturn to Mercury. It is therefore immediately clear how large the real sun would be seen from Jupiter, for example. Also, the model sun has something to do with space travel: it's an Ariane fuel tank, which was just the right size at 1.4 meters and
was donated by the Erno company.Over the past year, a number of additions have been made to the initially existing models:
The planetoids got their own column - as far as I know unique in Europe.
The weightlifting on the planetary educational trail is not intended so much for sporting activities. Rather, it is intended to illustrate the different gravitational pull on the planets.
The earth has preserved a piece of its orbit that shows the daily rhythm of movement throughout the year.
The two colleagues have many other plans: A pillar should show the exact coordinates of the model sun, a sundial is being designed for the station forecourt and a larger project is planned, a timeline parallel to the planetary trail, which will spatially convey the development of the universe.

What's interesting about this, and similar models of the solar system, is that you can immediately perceive the relative dimensions. This allows you to see how much space there is between the individual celestial bodies.

Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune: The planetary trail is a model of the solar system on a scale of 1:1 billion. It takes you on a 6 billion-kilometer journey through our solar system from Hude to Wüsting. Because the distances and magnitudes are reduced by 1 billion, the only remaining stretch is 6 kilometers through beautiful nature, easily covered by bike or on foot. The most striking feature is the sun at the entrance to Wüsting, which has long been the town's trademark. The sun was created from the tank of an Ariane rocket. The first 1.5 kilometers offer a clear view of the sun. This roughly corresponds to the natural visibility conditions with the naked eye from Earth toward Saturn.
