Sautens at the entrance to the Ötztal is made up of several districts, including Haderlehn, 2 km away. With its mild climate, the community is well suited for fruit growing, with some of the fruit being processed here in small private distilleries to make the well-known “Obstler”, a clear schnapps. The area has been populated since prehistoric times, the village name is probably of pre-Roman origin.

Worth seeing are the old parish church built in 1517 and the new parish church built in 1831 in the style of late classicism, which is one of the most beautiful village churches in Tyrol.
