Reichenberg Castle is the best preserved Romanesque castle in the Rems-Murr district.
The history of the castle is multifaceted: built as an Amtmannenburg, it passed into Württemberg hands around 1300. For 380 years it housed the Reichenberg ducal forest office and for 120 years diaconal institutions. As early as 1888, Reichenberg Castle was transferred to the Samaritan Foundation. In 1930 the castle was leased to the Evangelical Society of Stuttgart. The current owner of the castle is the state of Baden-Württemberg. Since 2007, Paulinenpflege Winnenden e. V. a home for businesses in which people with disabilities and mental illness are cared for.
Castle tours are no longer possible for the foreseeable future due to the "Corona crisis" !!!

Reichenberg Castle was built high above the Murr Valley in the early 13th century by the Margrave Hermann V of Baden. She is often called the guardian of the Murr Valley. Originally, this Hohenstaufen castle is said to have been a bit more powerful.
