Hiking

Practically as an extension of the first bunker with a view of the Sauertal near the flagpole, there is a second bunker on the parallel path in the middle of the forest. Apparently this was an important and strategically important spot. What must have happened here during the war? We can hardly imagine. Now with the war Russia --> Ukraine the suffering is brought back into consciousness. These bunkers are silent memorials.

Hiking

These bunker remains were once part of the West Wall. The West Wall, along the western border of the German Reich (also known to the Allies as the Siegfried Line), was a military defense system spread over approximately 630 km, consisting of over 18,000 bunkers, tunnels, and countless trenches and tank traps. It ran from Kleve on the Dutch border southwards to Grenzach-Wyhlen on the Swiss border.
