The Großer Lochstein is probably one of the most impressive rock formations in the area of the Veldenstein Forest. The imposing rock tower is traversed at the base by an approximately ten meter long passage cave. It is designated by the Bavarian State Office for the Environment as an important geotope (geotope number: 472R086) and as a natural monument.
