Set amongst a beautiful nature reserve with rock pools, grasslands, cliffs, beaches and wetlands, St Mary's Lighthouse towers over the surrounding scenery. It's well-worth climbing the 137 steps to see the view at the top. The lighthouse protected boats from its construction in 1898 until 1984. Today, you can visit the lighthouse for £3.30 per adult. As the lighthouse is situated on an island, the opening hours depend on the tide. You can find more information, here: my.northtyneside.gov.uk/category/635/st-marys-lighthouse

I've been coming here for years and my opinion does not change, I love the area that it is in as you have lots of choice as to where you want to go from. Be careful of the tide as there is people that have been stuck and also vehicles. There is table and chairs at the lighthouse where you can sit and have refreshments
