Burgberg is a former castle of the Niederadel family of the Knights of Berg, which is first mentioned in documents in 1425 as Burgbergk. The knights lived in the service of the margraves of Burgau and at times the counts of Helfenstein. By 1630, the plant was heavily devastated. In 1664, the new owner, Count Joachim Gottfried von Grafeneckref [1], rebuilt the castle before it passed in 1728 to the princes of Oettingen-Wallerstein.
