It is dedicated to the memory of the former Reconnaissance Wing 51 "Immelmann," which was stationed at Bremgarten Airfield until 1994. The wing (and thus indirectly the museum) is named after Max Immelmann, a famous fighter pilot of the First World War, known as the "Eagle of Lille."
