Boats pass under the 13-meter-long bridge, which is a listed building, when leaving Lake Plauer and heading for the Elde. With a lifting height of up to 1.86 m, it is the highest lifting bridge in Mecklenburg. The clearance height depends on the water level.Source: de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plauer_Hubbr%C3%BCcke

The lift bridge was built in 1916 to replace a wooden drawbridge. In 1945, the bridge was saved from being blown up.[1]In 1991/92, it was repaired and in 2020/21, a basic overhaul was carried out, including the installation of new drive technology.[2] A remote control was also implemented, taking into account the monument protection. Until this renovation, the lock keeper, who operates the lock at the "Hühnerleiter" a few hundred meters downstream on the Elde, had to ride his bike to the bridge in order to control the bridge directly from the wooden house. Now boaters coming from Lake Plauer can report their desire to pass by telephone.Source:de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plauer_Hubbr%C3%BCcke

The more than 100 years old lifting bridge is the landmark of Plau am See. On one of the counterweights of the lifting cylinder nests at the time (July 2018) a pair of seagulls. The young birds, including the nest, drive as it were when opening and closing the bridge.
