Historic Old Town of Rheinbach

You will immediately be drawn into this beautiful city. Whether it's the historical towers, the neat gable-end houses with their shops or the picturesque pedestrian paths, everything is very impressive. I particularly liked the ice cream parlor opposite the Wasemer Turm (round tower from the 12th century), in front of which one could lick ice cream on a bench with cushions and watch this tower and life in Rheinbach.

In the Rheinbach area, glass production was already known to the Romans, as archaeological finds prove. However, the decisive impetus came in 1947 when Sudeten German glass refiners from northern Bohemia who had been driven from their homeland after the Second World War. In addition to numerous glass processing workshops, the Rheinbach State Glass School was re-established in 1948 as the successor to the Glass School from Steinschönau in North Bohemia / (Czech. Kamenický Šenov). By the way: the two cities as well as the two schools have long-term partnerships.

Glass museum is worthwhile
