It was built in the Gothic style between the 13th and 14th centuries. One of its most outstanding features is its impressive collection of altarpieces, dating from the 15th and 16th centuries. They feature intricate carvings and elaborate paintings, and are considered some of the best examples of Gothic art in Asturias.
