Located at the top of the hill that bears the same name within the Sierra de Marina Park, the Iberian town of Puig Castellar constitutes an emblematic symbol and identity for Santa Coloma.

At 303 m high and with a surface area slightly greater than 4,000 m2, the magnificent conditions of defense and control of the territory do not lead one to think that it must have been an important town. This location allowed vision and communication with nearby settlements, since it controlled an important stretch of the coastline, the mouth of the Besós, the Barcelona plain and the passage inland, towards Vallés.

It was occupied from the 6th century BC. C. until the beginning of the 2nd century BC. C., when it was abandoned, possibly due to the events related to the Second Punic War, and belonged to the people of the Layetans, who lived in the territory that extended from the Llobregat river to La Tordera and inland along the Llobregat and Vallés valleys.

The most important economic activity was agriculture, they also practiced hunting, livestock farming and fishing as complementary activities.

The urban organization of the town indicates that its inhabitants belonged to a complex and organized society. The urban structure adapts to the characteristics of the terrain and the houses are built on terraces that overcome unevenness.

I took a windbreaker jacket, it can get a lot of air above and do not hesitate to bring water, you will need it, wear long pants, the path is very narrow.
