Where once the lugworm burrowed and the sand gaper settled, today after the construction of the Eider barrier at the mouth of the Eider we discover a koog landscape characterized by freshwater: the Katinger Watt bird sanctuary. Habitat for numerous animals and plants. Pools, ponds, deciduous forest, reed beds, green areas and fields offer them a habitat.
There is also a nature center where you can learn a lot about this area.
