Short section of pavement in the soft low lying area that can sometimes be flooded after rains, even if they only fall upstream in the mountains. A short distance from the turnoff is a good access to the alkali salt lake, with some semi-soft sections that can be muddy, sticky, which can potentially be dangerous.

Mountain biking

Nice spot to get off road a little, or use as a turnaround point if biking from soda lake boardwalk (gets you just about 10 miles), very exposed and very hot in the summer.
