Colorful petroglyphs on the inner alcoves and outer sides of a circular rock, some dating back at least 4000 years. Entrance to this ancient sacred native american site only with advance reservation, usually many months earlier from recreation.gov to visit Painted Rock. In summer a self-guided walk is possible with reservation, during spring access may be limited to one guided tour by a park ranger per week: blm.gov/visit/painted-rock
I was lucky that there was a waiting list for no show/cancellations about two hours before the tour, and got on the only tour of the week that way.
