The stone contains the coats of arms of the county of Bentheim, the province of Overijssel and of Bishop Christoph Bernard von Galen, the bishop of Münster, who had the stone erected at that time. The letter H of Hanover was carved in the stone in 1824. The stone also symbolizes the merging of the regions and the people living in this region.
