Day 7. A 350km driving day from Tallin to the university town of Tartu looking at a national park (Lahemaa), two renovated manor houses ( Palmse and Sagadi manor) and the Tartu Observatory which is a UNESCO site as part the Struve Geodetic Arc. The latter being a chain of survey triangulations stretching over 2,820 kilometres and ten countries from Norway to the Black Sea. The arc yielded the first accurate measurement of a meridian arc. Today we had a look at the three sites in Estonia. Not the most scenic of vistas today, especially with a flat national park but an interesting day all round no less.
