The church of San Bernardino degli Zoccolanti is a Franciscan church located on a hill a few kilometers from the center of Urbino. It was built by order of Federico da Montefeltro after his death, as a place for his burial and for that of his successors, hence the Ducal Mausoleum. The project and the subsequent realization of the work are attributed to the architect Francesco di Giorgio Martini (with the help of the young and promising Donato Bramante). The building has a clear architectural clarity, typical of the Urbino Renaissance.
