The first chapel dates back to the twelfth or thirteenth century and was built on the exact spot where a statue of the Madonna and Child was found. It underwent several extensions over the centuries until it reached its current form. The interior is masterfully frescoed. The bell tower is Notre Dame de la Garde. Outside there are fifteen newsstands depicting the mysteries of the rosary. There is also a fountain where you can fill your water bottles.
