Schloss Wasserlos was built in 1767/68 on the site of a medieval castle, the remains of which can still be seen in the park.
Among the changing owners of the castle was the sister of the well-known Romantic writer Clemens von Brentano, Ludovica Freifrau von des Bordes. As the lady of the castle at Wasserlos Castle, she became a benefactor to the community and made possible, among other things, the construction of the Catherine Church in the Wasserlos district. The park with the sequoia, planned in the style of an English landscape garden, and the pavilion in the “cherry garden” opposite complete the image of a 19th-century country estate. From the pavilion (the castle's former tea house), the view stretches far out into the Rhine-Main plain. Today the castle houses the modern Aschaffenburg-Alzenau Clinic, Alzenau-Wasserlos location, with an attached geriatric ward.
