For centuries, the Gentbrugse Meersen, like the Heirnis, were a large meadow area that was flooded every winter by the Scheldt water. The deposition of fertile river silt made these grounds ideal grazing pastures for cattle. Today this nature reserve is characterized by a rich fauna and flora, accommodations for both large and small as well as for "harvest goods". Harvest Goods is a CSA self-harvest farm. CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture, farming that is done together in the community where members can buy a share of the crop at the beginning of the year. In exchange, you can harvest the vegetables, fruit and herbs yourself all year round. They also let the cows of the organic farm "De Zwaluw" graze freely in the area of the Gentbrugse Meersen and with the milk "Oogstgoed" later makes delicious farm ice cream. So you could conclude that this organization is a commons, just like the Heirnis, which was located on the other bank of the Scheldt.
