Öhringen's residential palace was originally built by Georg Kern between 1611 and 1616 as a widow's residence. From 1677 onwards, the counts of Hohenlohe-Neuenstein-Öhringen resided here, and their tombs can be found in the collegiate church. After several extensions and additions, the palace was sold to the city of Öhringen in 1961, which has used it as a town hall and administrative headquarters since 1977.
The palace is located directly on the market square and has a representative palace garden.

Prince Ludwig Friedrich Karl was very committed to his part of the country and his residence, especially for the church and schools. He had Öhringen Residential Castle modernized and expanded several times, and built the stair bridge from the castle courtyard to the courtyard garden in 1781.
