The Püngelbach is a four kilometer long left tributary of the Erkensruhr in the Aachen city region. The stream has its source in the forest near the Eschenhof and around five kilometers south-east of Höfen, a district of the town of Monschau. The creek flows consistently to the north-east in a narrow meadow floodplain, some of which is interrupted by forest blocks, on the upper course for a length of around 940 meters first through the Püngelbachtal nature reserve. It runs through Beckmanns Weiher and then further along the Schraufweg. South of Erkensruhr, a district of the municipality of Simmerath, it finally flows into the Erkensruhr from the left.
