Bassenheim Castle (private property of Frhr. v. Waldthausen-Osten) can usually only be "visited" from the outside. Exceptions are guided tours or events in the chapel in the park.
Today's Bassenheim Castle has its origins in the 16th century, which was then built as a fortification with a moat. Since then it has been rebuilt several times and in the 18th century was demoted to a manor house, which from then on was mainly used as a shelter for poor families.
