Moorriem is a medieval, rural marshland settlement on the outskirts of Elsfleth, with a farming heritage. This region with its 13 half-timbered villages invites you to visit in its tranquility. Numerous listed half-timbered courtyards and thatched roof houses, some of which are 300 years old, have been lovingly restored. Country life has remained alive, characterized by agriculture and horse breeding.
Old cottage gardens are particularly worth seeing and can be particularly admired on a bike tour. Once a year, some locals prepare their gardens in a special way so that visitors can visit them.Moorriem is a 16 km long settlement strip between the Weser and Oldenburg. It begins east of Oldenburg in Moorhausen and extends through Butteldorf and Bardenfleth to Neuenbrok.
