The Alpsee, which is almost 250 hectares in size, stretches for three kilometres in an easterly direction in the Konstanz valley, is almost one kilometre wide and is crossed by the Konstanzer Ach from the west. Almost a dozen hillside streams from the mountains on the north side and a few fewer from those on the south bank provide further inflow; the larger of these have pushed silting noses up to 150 metres long into the lake.
