The pilgrimage chapel Liebfrauenheide in the forest between Hainstadt and Froschhausen dates back to the 18th century. It was built at a place where, according to tradition, shepherds after the Thirty Years' War found a Pietà, a carved image of Maria Dolorosa. A new chapel was built at the same place in the second half of the 19th century on the initiative of the Bishop of Mainz Wilhelm Emmanuel von Ketteler, who is considered to be one of the founders of Catholic social teaching.
